The Adjunct is a SisterSite of the WikiWikiWeb, and aims to be a home for material that would be OffTopic there, not falling under the scope of that site's primary topic, PeopleProjectsAndPatterns. However, even though this is a separate wiki, it is InterTwingled with the others. We hope that in your travels you will be able to move from one to the other freely. See also AboutTheName.
As this site is a wiki [WhatIsaWiki?], you can edit any page. Please note that we have some SimpleRules for visitors and participants. If you wish to practice editing a page, please use the AdjunctSandBox. More information for new visitors can be found at GettingStarted.
There is also a full index of all pages.
It will no doubt have come to your attention that the Adjunct has been unavailable for several weeks. This is due to a technical failure on the part of the service provider who was hosting it, coming at a moment immediately before I was due to be out of the country for some time and in a remote village with virtually no internet access!
Unfortunately, so great was the failure at the other end that the backup system I had been assured was in place was not, in fact, in place. I've had to restore it from the last backup I had a personal copy of; unfortunately, that copy dates from November 2008. So we've lost a year and a half of edits. That is grim, and I take full responsibility for it. I'm sorry.
This leads me to my next point.
It can't have escaped your notice that for the last couple of years or more, I have pretty much been an entirely AbsentLeader for this wiki. This has pretty much come as the consequence of a complete change of course in my life - I am no longer a programmer. I don't have the inclination or motivation any more to spend maintaining projects on the Web. I'll never lose my deep affection for the WikiWikiWeb community, let alone my gratitude for everything I learnt from it, but it is just not where I am any more. So, as of this moment I am seeking a new host and maintainer for the Adjunct.
If you are a real - as in named, serious and competent - person, who is interested in the prospect, send me an email at earle [at] downlode [dot] org, and we can discuss it.
Thank you for your time, and my apologies once more for any inconvenience the technical failure has caused you.
